Silver Cross was built in the 1700's
The
SILVER CROSS
Manor
The history of SILVER CROSS is
being compiled.
How Silver Cross was named
It is reported that the name Silver Cross came from an early owner of the
Estate who received a Silver cross metal during the Revolutionary War.
This metal is normally awarded either for personal heroism or to
commanders for leadership. It is reported that in this case the metal and honor
was bestowed upon the Soldier by General George Washington.
As more facts are made known they will be documented here. But it is not
unreasonable that this could have happened as the properties name has been
linked to documents around the turn of 1800's as well George Washington
frequented our area pre-Port Deposit. known as Creswell's Ferry.
